The Creation Journey
Explore the journey from nature's inspiration to timeless art

Research & Inspiration
I love travelling to unique and intriguing locations, immersing myself in nature to find inspiration for my work. The first step in my creative journey is selecting a location that resonates with the natural beauty I aim to capture. I meticulously research each site, studying the best times for lighting and potential subjects.
Understanding weather patterns and seasonal changes is crucial. Even when I plan each trip around these factors, I often need a bit of patience for the light to fall just right or a quick change of plans to accommodate the weather to capture nature's splendour in its most captivating moments.
Camera & Photoshoot
"Temptest" is a perfect example of when my technical skills and creativity harmonize. I shoot on a full-frame, high-resolution Sony system, chosen for its exceptional sharpness and detail. My technical skills and creative eye allow me to capture magnificent photos regardless of the conditions. Each shoot is tailored to leverage natural light and optimal conditions.
A prime example is "Temptest." While racing against an impending storm, I spotted a perfect golden sunset silhouetting a windmill. Despite the challenges, my camera's capabilities and years of practice allowed me to capture this stunning image, now featured in my Soliel collection.

Editing & Photo Development
As a perfectionist and purist, I aim to capture images as close to the final result as possible and the editing process is crucial for those finishing touches.
Using Lightroom, I make subtle adjustments, mirroring those made in a traditional darkroom. Minor colour and exposure corrections bring the image closer to the moment I photographed. This careful balance ensures my photos remain true to the original scene, preserving the authenticity of the natural world I aim to capture.
Printing & Format Options
Selecting the perfect artwork is a significant commitment, and I offer both Open Editions and Limited Editions to cater to different preferences. Open Editions are available in smaller sizes, while larger, statement pieces are Limited Editions, each accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
My giclée prints are produced on 310gsm 100% Cotton Rag stock using genuine Epson Ultra-chrome Pro inks, ensuring exceptional quality and longevity. This approach maintains the artistic integrity of each collection, providing art lovers with timeless pieces.

Framing & Display
Framing is an art in itself. Prints are dry-mounted to archival foam board, ensuring they remain perfectly flat and ripple-free. Using locally sourced, sustainable Victorian Ash, my frames are hand-assembled and finished with museum-quality acrylic to protect against UV rays. The shadowbox style gives a modern gallery look, enhancing each piece's visual impact.
Unframed prints are carefully rolled for shipping, ideal for international orders. I recommend opening unframed prints with a professional framer to ensure they remain pristine and ready for display.
Care & Maintenance
Fine art prints are not only a visual delight; they are also an investment. To preserve their allure, follow these tips:
-
Be mindful of where you hang your prints by avoiding placing them in areas with direct sunlight, extreme humidity or temperature fluctuations.
-
Handle with clean hands and use gloves if possible.
-
Dust framed prints regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth or a specialised art brush.
-
Avoid cleaning sprays directly on the frame or print.
-
Periodically inspect the condition of your frames and consider professional framing services to repair or reframe your prints.
