Soleil
The five minutes you can't control, and the calm that comes from stopping for them anyway.
Eight fine art prints made in the narrow window between day and night. When the light does exactly what it wants, and the only real choice is how you meet it. Each piece is offered as a true edition of ten.

You can only control how present you're willing to be inside them."

ABOUT THIS COLLECTION
The bookends of the day.
Let go to see them.
I started stopping for sunrises and sunsets years before I called myself a photographer, let alone an artist. It began as the easiest possible way into landscape work, the sun low enough in the sky that the light does half the work for you, and it stayed because of how little it asked of me. Five minutes, sometimes ten, and I'd already have something worth keeping.
The discipline in this collection isn't technical, it's temperamental. I don't chase a particular colour or condition. I show up, I let the sky do whatever it's going to do... cloud over, blow a storm in, forget to be spectacular at all... and I work with what's actually there instead of what I'd planned for. Every piece here was made inside that same five-to-fifteen-minute window as the light changed. And every piece is proof that presence, not control, is what actually produces the image.
Soleil was my first attempt to call a body of my own work art rather than a hobby, a decision that felt every bit as uncontrollable, at the time, as a sunrise. I've kept only the pieces that still ask something of me to look at, which is also, I think, what makes a piece worth living with.
WHO THIS COLLECTION IS FOR
For the person who already knows how to stop for a sunset, and rarely gives themselves permission to stop for anything else.
You've built a home you love, filled it with things that matter to you, and still find your attention rarely settles anywhere in it for more than a moment. You're not looking for another thing to manage, another practice, another app, another reminder to breathe. You already know what stopping feels like. You just don't do it very often, and almost never on purpose.
Soleil doesn't ask you to build a habit. It puts a version of that five-minute pause on your wall, permanently available, so the choice to stop is already made before you've had to think about it. You don't need to be somewhere else, or in a particular mood, or free for twenty minutes. You just need to look up.
If you've ever caught a sunset from the corner of your eye and felt your shoulders drop half an inch before you'd consciously noticed why... that's the sensation this collection is built to put on repeat, on demand, in a room you already spend time in.

8 PIECES · THE STORIES BEHIND THE WORK
Lucency
I'd been woken by a wall of cockatoo noise loud enough to make the windows feel like they weren't there, and nearly went straight back to bed. Then I saw gold hanging between the trees outside. The particular kind that doesn't last, and doesn't ask twice. Lucency is that fifteen minutes, held. Still water, a darker foreground, light gathering exactly where it needed to. Live with it, and it offers the same energy every morning; notice now, or don't get another chance.

Azure
By the time this sky appeared I'd spent an entire shoot working to someone else's eye, not mine. When the job ended, I turned away from the obvious sunset everyone else was watching and looked instead at what the fading blue light was doing to the grass and trees behind me. Azure is that turn. The moment you get your own instinct back. It's a quiet reminder that stepping into your own perspective again doesn't require anything dramatic, only permission.

Vigil
The valley was too dark to shoot from where I stood, and the sky looked flat enough that packing up and going back to bed felt like the sensible choice. I stayed anyway. Minutes later, the sky forgot it was meant to be blue, turning gold and violet over a single road through into the mountains. Vigil is what waiting a little longer than seems reasonable actually gets you. Proof the reward for staying is often larger than anything you asked for.

Revenant
I went back to a childhood place expecting the view I remembered. The trees had grown; the outlook I'd planned around no longer existed. Wandering instead of forcing the old plan, I noticed three trees standing together on a distant ridge, holding a valley in silhouette beneath a retreating gold sky. Revenant is what's left once an old memory is released rather than defended. Proof that returning rarely gives back what you left, and sometimes gives back better.

Solitude
The shoot was over, the gear already packed, and I was ready to drive home when a single leaning tree on a bare hill caught the day's last light and wouldn't let me leave. Working fast against a fading sky, I silhouetted it exactly as it stood. Scraggly, not quite straight, entirely alone. Solitude is that tree. It's a reminder that standing apart doesn't have to mean struggling; sometimes it means thriving, visibly, even when no one's watching to see it.

Penumbra
This photograph sat untouched on a hard drive for almost a year. The morning itself was remarkable. Fog lay low in a valley, catching the first violet-gold light and pulling every ridgeline forward through the mist, but the skill to finish it properly hadn't caught up yet. Penumbra exists because I came back once I was ready, rather than abandoning it because I wasn't, at first. It's proof that some things are worth waiting on until you can see them properly.

Origin
A sliver of red through the curtains was enough to know, before I'd even stepped outside, that this sunrise couldn't be missed. There was no waiting this time, only racing to get outside before the colour changed. The view deliberately echoes the very first photograph I ever made that stuck with me, over a decade earlier, from almost the same paddock. Origin is that full-circle proof of how far instinct can travel from a first uncertain attempt to something immediate and sure.

Tempest
A storm was chasing me home, dark and heavy in the rear-view mirror. I pulled over anyway. Despite the danger closing in from the west, the gold light was still holding to the east. Tempest holds that exact, nerve-wracking balance: a windmill silhouetted against a fading sky, the storm's edge cutting into the light from the left. It's proof that stillness isn't the absence of turbulence, but rather a decision made in the middle of it.
