"You don't have to leave the room
to come back to yourself."
STEP BACK INTO YOUR OWN ATTENTION, STAY STEADY AT YOUR OWN PACE AND FIND A PRIVATE PLACE INSIDE A FULL LIFE
ABOUT THIS COLLECTION
Portraits made on borrowed time.
The minute that was mine.
I didn't set out to make this collection. I take my camera on every trip, and over the years four photographs kept calling me back. A bee in a wedding garden in Ireland. A frog in a pond in Italy. A ladybug on a walk. A peacock on a crowded island. It took me a long time to see what they shared.
Each one was made at the edge of something else. I was working the wedding. I was among the crowds on an island in peak summer. I was a visitor, and I was still learning. So I did the only thing I could: I stopped, got close, and let the occasion fall out of the frame. A bee absorbed in its own work. A frog afloat. A ladybug holding on upside down. A peacock asleep in the one dark corner nobody had noticed.
I made them for the rooms where the day is full of other people's needs and a small part of you is still waiting for its turn. Not to take you out of your life. To show you what it looks like to be inside it and still entirely yourself.
WHO THIS COLLECTION IS FOR
For the person with a full life that works, yet no hour in it feels like yours.
You've built a life other people can lean on. There's always a plan to follow, an occasion to get through, someone who needs you to be there. You're good at it. And somewhere in the middle of it, your own attention stopped being yours. You show up for everything and arrive at none of it.
These four photographs don't ask you to leave. A bee works through the middle of a wedding. A frog floats where everyone else is passing. A ladybug holds the edge of a leaf, upside down. A peacock sleeps in the one dark corner of a crowded island. Each found a place of its own without changing the place it was in. Living with them is a quiet, daily rehearsal of that.
If you've ever stepped to the edge of a loud room, gone quiet for a minute, and felt more like yourself than you had all day, you already know what these are for.

4 PIECES · THE STORIES BEHIND THE WORK
Still Gathering
At a wedding in Ireland, I stepped back from the reception and found a bee on a daisy bush, gathering pollen as if nothing else were happening. I'd been shooting someone else's memories all day. This was a few minutes of shooting my own. Still Gathering is what the bee was doing, and what I needed to remember. Keep it where your days belong to everyone else, and let it say your purpose is still allowed.

Nowhere to Be
In Italy, I was in tourist mode, looking into a pond for the water lilies, when I noticed a spotted frog with a bright green stripe tucked beside one, floating, camouflage doing its job. I focused on the lily and let him go soft, to honour how well he hides. Nowhere to Be is what that looks like. Hang it where you need a reminder that you can choose your own pace.

Right Way Up
On a walk during a trip, I saw a red ladybug among the leaves. I had no macro lens, no tripod, and no real idea what I was doing. I held still and got as close as the lens allowed. It took me years to see what I'd made: a ladybug gripping a leaf upside down, entirely steady. Right Way Up is for when you're standing in a position that was never built for you. Keep it where you look for something to hold on to.

Well Spent
On a small island on Lake Maggiore, in peak summer, I looked through the leaves into a dark, quiet pocket nobody else had noticed. A peacock was asleep there, head tucked behind his wing. I got low and let the rest of the island fall into shadow. Well Spent hangs in my own bedroom. Keep it where you need somewhere quiet to return to, so you can step back into the noise as yourself.
