The Rhythm of Stillness is what it feels like to stop needing to know where you are, and discover that this is not disorientation, but freedom.
By the time I reached this waterfall, I had long since lost track of where we were in the walk. I didn't know how far we'd come or how far remained. I had stopped trying to keep my bearings and simply trusted the track would lead back. The water was moving. The ferns in the foreground were shifting in the airflow moving through the valley. The light had dropped and was only touching the tops of the vegetation now. Everything was alive and in motion, and I was completely at rest inside it.
I set myself a technical challenge here: slow the shutter enough to soften the water's movement, handheld, without a tripod, in fading light. It required absolute stillness. And it was only possible because, by this point in the walk, I was already there. Presence had arrived before the camera was even raised.
The Rhythm of Stillness carries an idea that is more useful than calm: that stillness is not the absence of movement, but the ability to remain grounded while everything continues to move around you. Flow and stillness can coexist. Some things in your life will be in motion, and others will be still, and both are right. This piece holds that. It is for the person who needs a reminder that you do not have to stop the world in order to find peace inside it.
PAPER & INKS
310gsm 100% cotton rag, the substrate used in museum-grade printing. Archivally stable for 100+ years. Carries colour with a warmth and depth that coated papers cannot match.
Printed with Epson UltraChrome Pro inks chosen for colour gamut and longevity. Will not fade in your lifetime under normal display conditions.
FRAME
Hand-assembled from sustainably sourced Victorian Ash. Shadowbox profile with a small depth between the print and the UV-filtering acrylic gives the image room to breathe. Dry-mounted to archival foam board. Available in natural, white, or black finish.
EDITION & CERTIFICATE
Each piece in this collection is offered as a limited edition at this scale. The scale at which the work does what it's intended to do.
Each limited edition exists in 10 prints worldwide. This is a true edition, not ten per size or ten per format. Ten total. When it closes, it closes permanently. Every piece ships with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and an edition record noting the specific number of your print.
SHIPPING & CARE
Framed pieces shipped within Australia are carefully wrapped for protection. Unframed prints are gently rolled and shipped in a rigid tube, the recommended option for international orders.
