The Threshold by Josie Kleinitz — mossy log dividing path from rainforest. Rainforest Reverie.

The Threshold

The Threshold is what it feels like to recognise that you are not in charge of everything you are standing in, and to find that recognition a relief rather than a loss.

Midway through the walk, I found this: an enormous moss-covered log that had clearly once been a great tree, now fallen and given over entirely to the life growing on and through it. It had become the boundary between the man-made path and the wild. Behind it, immediately behind it, a tree trunk so large I couldn't have fitted it into the frame even if I'd tried. A single beam of sunlight had found the moss. The path, scattered with leaves, bent out of sight. A fern reached over as though to say: you are welcome here, but this is not yours.

The Threshold carries an idea I keep returning to: that the most profound peace is not the peace of control, but the peace of belonging without ownership. Humans so often seek to dominate and manage what is around them. The rainforest does not accommodate that. It makes space for you, entirely, and then continues being exactly what it is. And there is something in accepting that, in choosing to be a guest in something larger, that releases the pressure of needing to be the answer to everything.

The fallen tree is not a barrier. It is a doorway that knows its own nature. It separates without hostility, holds without grasping, and offers exactly as much as it needs to. The collection would be missing something essential without The Threshold: the reminder that we can belong fully to something we do not control, and that this is enough.

  • PAPER & INKS

310gsm 100% cotton rag, the substrate used in museum-grade printing. Archivally stable for 100+ years. Carries colour with a warmth and depth that coated papers cannot match.

Printed with Epson UltraChrome Pro inks chosen for colour gamut and longevity. Will not fade in your lifetime under normal display conditions.

  • FRAME

Hand-assembled from sustainably sourced Victorian Ash. Shadowbox profile with a small depth between the print and the UV-filtering acrylic gives the image room to breathe. Dry-mounted to archival foam board. Available in natural, white, or black finish.

  • EDITION & CERTIFICATE

Each piece in this collection is offered as a limited edition at this scale. The scale at which the work does what it's intended to do.

Each limited edition exists in 10 prints worldwide. This is a true edition, not ten per size or ten per format. Ten total. When it closes, it closes permanently. Every piece ships with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and an edition record noting the specific number of your print.

  • SHIPPING & CARE

Framed pieces shipped within Australia are carefully wrapped for protection. Unframed prints are gently rolled and shipped in a rigid tube, the recommended option for international orders.

These calendars are stunning. This is my second year purchasing and I can easily say it will not be my last. The quality is spectacular, the photos are beautiful and the time taken on each one shows. I have purchased 3x 2024 calendars to have them surrounding me, one in the home office, one on display in reception at work and one as a gift for my parent's house. If you are ever stuck needing something for someone who has everything, these calendars should be at the top of your list.
